FAQ Coaching
A grounded, skills based approach to making progress, feeling competent and finding joy.
How long do sessions typically last?
We meet for about 50 minutes every week.
What is your availability?
I currently have availability on Thursdays and Fridays with various times available throughout the day and evening.
Who do you work with?
I specialize in working with teens and young adults age 16-35 and any current and former athletes and performers driven to excellence in sport and life who seek to balance achievement and peace.
How is coaching different from counseling?
There are some things in coaching that are similar to how you might traditionally think about counseling or therapy like the importance of trust and knowing conversations will stay confidential. This is critical to feeling comfortable enough to sometimes ask yourself the tough questions. Another similarity is that we meet one on one and that I believe its a partnership toward real change and learning. I do not see myself in the business of being a guru. I see it as a business of helping athletes and performers find more consistency and peace in an arguably intense environment. Coaching is about working from a place of wellness to high performance. Counseling is about moving out of suffering and treating a specific set of symptoms.
Do we meet virtually or in person?
I am seeing clients virtually currently due to COVID and generally for the ease and availability it brings. I use a secure online platform. Currently I use, VSee, Google Meet and the Simple Practice telehealth platforms. Finding a secure comfortable space, having a reliable computer or tablet and headphones, help the process run smoothly. Get comfy, bring your favorite beverage or snack and lets get started.
What is the cost?
The rate is $150/50 minute session. Any additional time will be billed at the same rate.
This also includes a heartmath inner balance biofeedback sensor and app.
How long will it take?
It’s hard to give a general number. Some people work consistently for a long period or others work season by season digging deeper and deeper and honing skills- think a lifetime of sport or meditation. Some meet for a specific amount of time to accomplish a certain goal. Some people work intensely at first and then come back for tune ups. Its up to you and your goals, motivations, style and more. I see it as my job to help you meet your goals and have the tools and support in place to graduate our work as efficiently as possible.
What is the next step?
After a free phone consultation, if we are both stoked to get started, we will schedule your weekly coaching session time. Then I will send you a link to collect general information, some background information that is helpful to putting together your training program and collect payment information. During the first session we will chat about your reasons for starting coaching in more depth and goals you have for yourself and a skills or two to begin practicing.
