Injury Recovery
You are doing all the things.
You are busy with doctor appointments, physical therapy, maybe meeting with your coach, resting, doing your exercises, ice, heat etc. Even though you have lots to do you also have a hole in your schedule where training used to be. And if you do attend, it’s a completely different experience which takes adjustment too. Your source of exercise, fun, confidence, stress relief, and connection with teammates and coaches is different and it’s sucks.
And that is just the tip of the iceberg. Weather it’s an overuse injury with a long history to diagnosis with no clear fix, or this is your second or third acute injury- the time involved is weighing on you. You are tired of it. It used to be easy to set goals, meet them and get back to doing you. Get hurt, heal, move on. But not this injury, not you. Now, goals keep changing because you are having setbacks, complications or things are just taking longer to heal than you hoped. You feel like you are doing so much, yet so much is out of your control. You are drowning and everyone is watching but no one can really help.
Even more, It has become an up and down cycle of seeing a new professional and getting a new opinion or plan. You hope each one will be able to help and yet it seems like each one has only has some ideas or refers you to someone else. No clear answer or path forward. Yes it’s a process, but it doesn’t have to feel this out of control.
Hi I am Erin and I specialize in the issues and skills of athletes and performers. I help athletes with a history of overuse injuries, recurring injury or complicated cases learn to find meaning in the chaos. I meet you where you are at in the process weather you are still looking for answers or transitioning back to sport. I teach skills to help relax you body and mind which helps transition into change. We will work together to process and let go of big emotions so that you can move out of reaction and overwhelm into acceptance and also intentional action. With support, understanding and skills you can once again feel in control of your life. You can feel acceptance and peace and also grit, determination and a new strength that you gained by finding meaning during your injury process.
